Leadership Dispute Emerges Between Miss Tourism Kigezi and Miss Tourism Uganda By Editor

Kigezi, Uganda.
A recent announcement from Miss Tourism Uganda has sparked a leadership dispute, causing confusion and concern within the local tourism community. The national organization announced changes in the leadership of regional clusters, including Kigezi, which has been met with strong opposition from Miss Tourism Kigezi Initiative Ltd.
On April 20, 2024, Miss Tourism Uganda issued a notice on their social media platforms stating that Ms. Zakia Lucky would replace Ms. Atwongyeire Claire as the new coordinator for the Kigezi cluster. The notice advised sponsors and partners to direct all future arrangements to the new coordinators to avoid any inconveniences.
The announcement was met with shock and dismay by the management of Miss Tourism Kigezi, who swiftly responded through their legal representatives, Beitwenda & Co. Advocates. In a press release dated May 20, 2024, the legal firm clarified that Miss Tourism Kigezi Initiative Ltd, which has been operational since 2014, retains full and independent control over its activities and leadership. The press release emphasized that Ms. Zakia Lucky is not associated with Miss Tourism Kigezi and has no authority to represent or engage with the initiative’s sponsors.

Miss Tourism Kigezi reiterated its commitment to empowering young women and men in the region through tourism and innovation. The organization underscored that it has consistently met its core objectives and will continue to operate independently unless an express agreement states otherwise.
The legal notice warned the public and potential sponsors to disregard the leadership changes announced by Miss Tourism Uganda, highlighting that any transactions conducted under the assumption of this new leadership would be done at their own risk. Miss Tourism Kigezi stated it would take immediate legal action against any unauthorized representations or engagements.
The dispute highlights the complexities of managing regional and national tourism initiatives and the importance of clear communication and respect for established mandates. As the situation develops, stakeholders and the general public are advised to stay informed and cautious in their dealings to avoid any potential conflicts or misunderstandings.

For further inquiries or clarifications, Miss Tourism Kigezi can be contacted through their legal representatives at Beitwenda & Co. Advocates.
